I had been working at the School for the Deaf for 5 years, which was just down the street from a little church building. Every time I passed the church on Sundays, I could hear what sounded like a hundred people inside, singing and shouting and rejoicing. I kept thinking I would go there sometime. One day I was having a personal crisis and I had no where to turn. I was drawn to the little church.
When I first stepped into Everlasting Missionary Baptist Church,
in need of help and hope, I had no idea what was going on in there.
I did not know my life was about to change. I knew about Jesus
but
I didn't know Him personally. As the members of the congregation
showed me the love of Christ, I knew I needed to be there and that
my help and hope were there; this was my home and my family. I began to understand, and I accepted
Christ as my personal Savior. I was baptized on July 17, 1988. I began to know Him as LORD of my
life, I accepted His forgiveness as I confessed
to Him, and I exchanged
my hate for love, my bitterness for forgiveness,
my depression for
hope and my fear for joy.
I received peace and the God-shaped
hole in my heart was finally filled!
Jesus changed my life -- He can change yours too!
